FAQs Residential Mindfulness Courses

Present Minds

How do I book a residential retreat?
Retreats organised by Present Minds are booked through us.

Occasionally we offer teaching through other organisations, in which case booking processes are clearly described.

What’s the accommodation like on the residential courses?
We currently hold our retreat weekends at Fintry, Surrey. Rooms at Fintry are simply but comfortably furnished in keeping with the Arts and Crafts styling of the house. All are singles or twins. No ensuite facilities are available, and bathrooms are shared between 2-3 people. The large house and gardens are for our exclusive use. www.thefintrytrust.org.uk
Do prices include food, accommodation, travel and teaching?
Prices include food, accommodation and teaching, but not travel.

We advise that you don’t book any travel until your place on the course is confirmed. We can connect you with other attendees so that you can potentially travel together.

What is the food like, and can special diets be catered for?
The food on all residential events is vegetarian. It is freshly prepared, and is simple and nutritious.

If you notify us in advance, we can arrange special diets to be accommodated.

I want to go on to train to be a mindfulness teacher; does the MBSR course, done in a residential format, count towards future training entry requirements?
Often yes, but not always. We strongly recommend you check with the organisation you wish to do further training with to be sure.
What are the cancellation terms for these courses?
Please check the booking form. Our terms and conditions vary, and we try to be generous and flexible, but please do check and ask if you have any queries.
Can I be contacted during residential events?
We are not strict about this, but we do strongly encourage that when you are on retreat, you do not make contact with friends/family. This is to give the maximum opportunity to benefit from having “retreated” from our usual pressures and busyness. We do understand that sometimes outside contact is necessary, and will always provide a way for friends/family to contact you in case of an emergency.
